Rusty Mueller

Rusty is one of the familiar faces you’ll see around the shop, assisting with courses and helping out at the National Aquarium. His diving journey began in the early 1980s through Anne Arundel Community College, where he first met John. Many weekends were spent training divers together at Willow Springs Quarry, building the strong foundation that still shapes his approach to diving today.

When he’s not underwater or lending a hand at the store, Rusty enjoys refereeing soccer matches, staying involved in anything dive-related, and spending time with his best buddy, Cole, his loyal Belgian Shepherd.

Before fully leaning into dive life, Rusty had a successful career as a CPA, and although he’s retired from accounting, his attention to detail and calm demeanor still shine through in everything he does. Whether in the classroom, at the Aquarium, or behind the scenes, Rusty is always happy to help and share his decades of experience with fellow divers.
