The Fun Part

Underwater navigation is like solving a puzzle while scuba diving. You’ll learn how to use a compass, recognize natural underwater landmarks, estimate distance, follow navigation patterns, and relocate specific points underwater.

When the rest of the group starts looking around wondering which direction to go, you’ll already have the compass out and know the answer.

 What You’ll Learn

During the PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty, you'll practice:

• Compass navigation and proper compass techniques
• Natural navigation using underwater clues instead of a compass
• Following different navigation patterns and courses
• Estimating distance underwater
• Relocating a specific dive site or underwater object
• “Marking” a submerged location so you can find it again from the surface
• Underwater map making
• Following irregular courses using the Nav-Finder
• Improving your overall underwater awareness and confidence

By the end of the course, you won't just be following the dive — you'll know where you're going!
