Snorkeling and Diving:
Cancun is known for its annual Whale Shark Festival that runs from late May until mid-September. The whale sharks live in the deep waters between Cancun and Cuba but each summer they come to the surface to feed on the spawning plankton. It is an experience you will never forget. (International law as well as Mexico's marine park regulations, prohibit persons on a boat from donning dive gear to go diving with whale sharks that are spotted on the surface.)
On our second day we will either do a wreck dive followed by a reef dive or do two reef dives depending upon the weather conditions. There are beautiful reefs loaded with colorful fish and corals around the Cancun and Isla Mujeres coastlines. For our third day we will return to snorkeling with the Whale Sharks. If 4 or more are interested, we can extend the trip by one day and dive the Cenotes. The extra night plus the Cenotes diving are an additional $285.
We will be staying in the Starwood Properties (SPG Group) Aloft hotel located in the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone and a short, 5 -minute walk to the dive shop (Solo Buceo). All rooms are double occupancy and come with a refrigerator, coffee maker and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has two bars and a restaurant plus a roof-top pool with spectacular views of both the Caribbean and Lagoon. You are within a 5-minute walk to a supermarket, numberous high quality as well as moderate priced restaurants (such as a Hard Rock Cafe, Carlos and Charley's Senor Frogs, Haagen-Daz, Chili's, and local Mexican establishments) shopping, and nightlife galore including Coco Bongo, Congo, Dady O's, Mandalay and more.
