Snorkeling and Diving:
Cancun is known for its annual Whale Shark Festival that runs from late May until mid-September. The whale sharks live in the deep waters between Cancun and Cuba but each summer they come to the surface to feed on the spawning plankton. It is an experience you will never forget. (International law as well as Mexico's marine park regulations, prohibit persons on a boat from donning dive gear to go diving with whale sharks that are spotted on the surface.)
On our second day we will do a deep dive to one of the nearby wrecks and follow that dive with a second dive to one of the beautiful reefs that populate the Cancun and Isla Mujeres coastlines. For our third day you will have a choice of either returning to the whale sharks or, if your flight is not leaving until afternoon on the 4th or you are staying longer you can do two more dives.
We will be staying in the Satrwood Properties (SPG Group) Aloft hotel located in the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone and a short, 5 -minute walk to the dive shop (Solo Buceo). All rooms are double occupancy and come with a refrigerator, coffee maker and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has two bars and a restaurant plus a roof-top pool with spectacular views of both the Caribbean and Lagoon. You are within a 5-minute walk to a supermarket, numberous high quality as well as moderate priced restaurants (such as a Hard Rock Cafe, Carlos and Charley's Senor Frogs, Haagen-Daz, Chili's, and local Mexican establishments) shopping, and nightlife galore including Coco Bongo, Congo, Dady O's, Mandalay and more.
